FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - The operator of a Fresno medical marijuana dispensary who kept doing business after a judge said pot clinics could not operate in the city has been jailed.
Rick Morse, the owner of Medmar Clinic, was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon, a week after Superior Court Judge Donald Franson Jr. issued a warrant for his arrest.
Franson issued the no-bail warrant after Morse failed to appear for his arraignment on a misdemeanor contempt-of-court charge stemming from his alleged violation of the judge's order prohibiting marijuana dispensaries.
Morse's son, Brandon Morse, says it is up to God, not the judge, to decide whether his father can provide marijuana to ill patients.
